Janiel Wagstaff has worked as a classroom teacher, university instructor, and director of an early childhood teacher certification program. She has a great passion for literacy and regularly presents workshops nationally. Although Janiel enjoys staff development, her favorite work happens in her own classroom with young readers and writers. She currently works as a K-6 literacy specialist/coach in Sunset, Utah. She’s published many books for Scholastic as well as articles for The Reading Teacher and Instructor magazine.

  Maria P. Walther
Maria Walther, who has a doctorate in elementary education from Northern Illinois University, has taught first grade since 1986. She currently teaches at Gwendolyn Brooks Elementary in Aurora, IL. She shares her ideas with teachers around the country at seminars through Staff Development Resources and as an independent consultant.

Award Winner! Dr. Maria Walther was awarded the 2008 ICARE for Reading Award by the Illinois Council for Affective Reading Education. She received the award in recognition of outstanding contributions to fostering the love of reading in children!.

Brenda M. Weaver is a Reading Coach for the Marion County Schools, Florida and a Literacy Educational Consultant. She is a former Assistant Professor of Education for Cazenovia College, Cazenovia, New York and K-5 Language Arts/Social Studies Curriculum Coordinator for the Skaneateles Central Schools in Skaneateles, New York. She has been a classroom teacher, reading teacher, reading diagnostician, assistant principal and principal. She has published articles and books on the topic of literacy and leveling books. She has also begun to write and publish children's books. As a literacy consultant she traveled throughout the United States and Europe.

  Jo Worthy
Jo Worthy is an associate professor of language and literacy studies at the University of Texas at Austin. In addition to publishing many of her own articles in top journals for teachers and researchers, she is coeditor of the National Reading Conference Yearbook and column editor of Literacy in the Intermediate Grades, which is published regularly in The Reading Teacher. Her book, Pathways to Independence: Reading, Writing, and Thinking in Grades 3-8, which she coauthored with Karen Broaddus and Gay Ivey, was published in 2001 by Guildford Press. Prior to receiving her Ph.D., Jo was a classroom teacher in Virginia.
