In the Classroom
Instruction in the Scholastic Early Childhood Program is centered around three learning areas: Circle Time, Story Time, and Learning Centers. The theme-based Teacherís Guide provide daily lessons for each area to balance purposeful-play with teacher-directed instruction.

Building Literacy in Story Time
Story Time uses literature and nonfiction books to provide direct instruction in language and literacy skills. Multiple readings of literature help children begin to:

  1. Learn concepts of print
  2. Make predictions
  3. Increase letter knowledge
  4. Explore a variety of genres
  5. Engage in literary discussions
  6. Examine new vocabulary
  7. Develop a love of reading
