Roberta (Robin) Zeal, 2001
State Teacher of the Year, Montana
Robin Zeal, the 2001 Teacher of the Year for Montana, is a Title I Reading teacher at Muldown Elementary School in Whitefish, Montana. She has taught primary grade students for 18 years in Oregon, Alaska, and Montana. In 1991, she taught first grade as an International Teaching Fellow in Melbourne, Australia. Robin has made reading instruction her focus throughout her career and is trained in Reading Recovery®, DISTAR, Slingerland, and several other remedial reading programs. She has shared her knowledge of reading development as a presenter at several professional conferences, as well as through continuing education courses and teacher in-services. She was appointed as a Montana Title I Distinguished Educator in 1996. Robin recently received her Masters of Education in Technology in Education and now also provides technology in-service training and adult education courses for her district.
