State Teacher of the Year,
New Hampshire
Suzanne Lull, New Hampshire's Teacher of the Year 2001, has been teaching for 14 years, the last four years in Washington, NH, where she teaches first and second grade and is the Technology Coordinator. Suzanne was a nominee for the Disney American Teacher Awards in 1999. In 2000 she won the Teacher Recognition Award from the Academy of Applied Science in New Hampshire for her part in bringing a systematic phonics program to the school as part of a balanced literacy program. Suzanne has been instrumental in involving the community by creating a writing-buddy program between her first and second graders and community senior citizens. In 2000 she spoke at the NHATE Conference on the success of this program for giving children a voice and an audience when they write.
