It's a quiz ... it's a game ... it's Mapman! A great way to sharpen critical thinking skills, the Mapman Game offers geography-based quizzes with instant scoring, plus fast facts about each region.

With Classport, you can map your way to learning with classrooms around the world!

Here's how to get started:

Review the Mapman Game.

Once you're familiar with this activity, go to Classport and join their online community.

You'll be asked to set up a classroom profile. You can mention in your profile that you are interested in participating in a Mapman activity.

Once you are a member of Classport, you can search for classrooms in other countries and contact them. Classport provides tools such as instant translation, so you can communicate easily even if you don't speak the same language!

Once you have a partner class, try these tips for learning together:

Have a Geography Bowl
Here's how:

1.
Chart your class's answers to the current Mapman Game, including all wrong answers.
2.
Ask your partner class to do the same.
3.
Compare charts, seeing which questions were harder for each class.
4.
Have each class create follow-up quizzes and exchange them with your partner class, having the questions get harder and harder. This can be an ongoing activity, or a one-time exchange.

Compare News
Here's how:

1.
With your partner class, choose a country mentioned in one of the Mapman Game questions.
2.
Have both classes research a current news story in that country.
3.
Compare your local news reports to your partner class's news reports.
Note: You can even attach newspaper articles and send them to your partner class.

4.
Ask students to notice and report on the similarities/differences of the news coverage. What information can they learn from each other?
5.
Students can pair up with students in your partner class and write a collaborative report.

Exchange geography quizzes and riddles:

Have your class pick a region, then write riddles about that region for your partner class to answer. Send the riddles to your partner class to solve. Ask them to send riddles back to your class.

Exchange 10 geography questions with your partner class. See if each class can do research to get 100%.

Create virtual trips and dream vacations:

With your partner class, exchange information about your cities. Set up a virtual trip to your city, using maps and weather guides. Find your partner class on the map using Classport’s maps.

Have students create and write about a "dream trip," using the globe, weather reports, etc. Share these vacations with your partner class and ask them to do the same.

Do you have some tips you'd like to share? We will post some of the project tips we receive.
