The answer to this is really up to your interpretation of the story. The ending is told as a joke, but is also serious. When you know other languages, you understand better the culture of the people who speak that language. If you understand the people and their culture, you are better able to work with them to find common ground. In this case, the mother mouse understood what would make the cat leave.
