Afghan Kids Answer Your Questions

Karima is in grade five. Her father is a driver for a humanitarian aid organization working in Kabul. She has four brothers and four sisters. Someday she hopes to be a journalist. She is with her friend Shabana.

Drugs are a problem for teenagers here in the United States. Are they a problem for you? What is the punishment if someone is caught?

Answer: I don't know anyone who takes drugs. Maybe some boys do drugs like hash or opium, but never the girls. If someone's parents catch them with drugs, the parents will kick them out of the house—forever. They break the relationship and it will be finished. If the police catch someone they put them in jail.
