Afghan Kids Answer Your Questions

Manizha (in black dress and hat) lives in District 6, Kabul—an area hit by many bombs during the past wars. Most of her neighborhood is still in ruins.

Please describe what you wear.

Answer:I wear the paron [a loose-fitting dress worn over pants]. My friend [girl to her left in blue outfit] is wearing a punjabi. You can tell the difference because hers has slits on the side and mine doesn't. My little brother [small boy to her left in light blue outfit] is wearing parantombon. For school I wear a uniform: a black paron with a white chador [a large scarf worn over the head], but the boys don't have uniforms.
