Election Day in Tampa, Florida, was a little wet, but along with the rain came a slow and steady stream of voters, both young and old. Kids Voting USA encouraged kids to come to the polls with their parents. Kids then cast their own votes in a non-binding election. Tampa voters were also faced with electronic voting machines.
A number of voters reported that they enjoyed voting electronically.
Scholastic News Online asked voter Julie Moroney why she came to vote on Tuesday.
"I feel it's our obligation and I want a say in the elections," she said.
Moroney's daughter participated in kids' voting. She thought that it was great that kids can learn to vote at such a young age.
Voting day in Tampa was smooth sailing this year!
