John McCain
John McCain opposes creating any kind of timetable for withdrawing American troops from Iraq. He remains committed to staying in Iraq until the government there and its armed forces are able to successfully defend Iraq against its enemies, both within and outside of the country. McCain has predicted that most U.S. forces will be back home by 2013.

McCain supported the 2003 invasion of Iraq. He was also a vocal supporter of last year’s surge, when President Bush ordered an increase of more than 28,000 U.S. troops in Iraq.
