U.S. Senator Durbin Wins Second Term
Senator Dick Durbin, Democrat, easily won re-election to his second six-year term Tuesday. He defeated Republican State Representative Jim Durkin with at least 61 percent of the vote.
Because the candidates' names were so similar, Senator Durbin aired a commercial with a catchy jingle spelling his name. Durkin didn't raise enough money to air any TV commercials.
