Kids Take Charge at the UN

At the close of the 'Say Yes for Children' celebration, Nelson Mandela holds up a collection of stories from around the world on how some of the more than 96 million 'Say Yes' pledges were gathered.
For an entire week, kids had the run of the United Nations. They held press conferences and panel discussions. They reported the news and were the news. Kids were everywhere speaking out for children's rights during the UN Special Session on Children in May 2002. Scholastic News Online was there with a team of young reporters to cover the events. Surf through this Special Report to meet a variety of delegates from countries around the world and find out what issues they think are the most important.

You can also take a quiz and go on a Scavenger Hunt.
