By the Book
Books that are returned late to the library are overdue. Here's the story of a book that was over–over–over–overdue! A person found a book and returned it to a library in southern Finland. It had been on loan for more than 100 years! (Nobody knows who borrowed it then—it was 100 years ago!) The fine at the time was $.10 (Finland) per week for late returns.
If the original borrower actually had to pay the fine after 100 years, how much would he owe altogether in Finland's dollars?

Olympics on the Way!
The summer Olympic Games will begin on August 8! Athletes from around the world will meet in China to compete in events such as basketball, BMX biking, gymnastics, and swimming.
The U.S. usually does really well at the Olympics. The last Summer Games were held in Athens, Greece, in 2004. Americans won 35 gold medals–more than any other country! China won 32 gold medals. Americans won 4 more silver medals than gold medals. Swimmer Michael Phelps won 7 of the gold medals! Americans won 10 fewer bronze medals than silver medals. How many total medals did the U.S. win?
