Fantastic Forest
Put on your boots! Imagine a walk through the rain forest. Here we go!
We see big tree roots called buttress roots. They grow out from the sides of trees.
They help hold up the trees. We also see lianas (lee-AH-nuhz). These are woody vines that grow in the forest. Animals climb on them.
Look! A butterfly rests on a tree. This kind of butterfly drinks juice from fruits. The fruits grow on the rain-forest trees.
Take out your magnifying glass! This tiny frog sits on a leaf. The frog is only as big as a person's thumbnail!
What is that noise? Look up! It's a monkey in the branches. It howls to another monkey. These monkeys are loud! They call to each other across the forest.
