The Zippity Zinger(Hank Zipzer series), by Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver, is a great book.

Hank Zipzer thinks he is a terrible athlete. One day, he puts on his sister's lucky socks. While playing catch with his grandfather, he plays better than usual. He thinks it must be the socks!

His friends get him to agree to pitch for their softball team at an upcoming competition at school. Hank wants his sister's socks, but his sister needs them that day. Does Hank really need the lucky socks to pitch well? Read the book to find out!
