With her debut album Freedom already in stores, and plans for a clothing line in the works, 16-year-old Kristy Frank is well on her way to becoming the next teenage singing sensation. Scholastic News Online recently caught up with Kristy, and asked her about her new album, her big plans for the future, and her work with the Starlight Children's Foundation. Here's what she had to say:

Q:
Did you write any of the songs on your new album, Freedom?
Kristy: Not on this album, but I have written songs in the past.
Q:
What is your favorite song on the album?
Kristy: One of my favorite songs is "Unattached."
Q:
Tell us about the Camplified tour.
Kristy: I perform at different summer camps in the course of six weeks. There are [about] 1500 kids at each camp. I am excited to do that!
Q:
Tell us about your fans.
Kristy: I have some awesome fans. They are really dedicated.
Q:
Are you still thinking about doing a clothing line?
Kristy: It is still in the works. I cannot wait to do that. I am so excited. It is something that I have always wanted to do.
Q:
Would you like to act?
Kristy: I am going on auditions. I am having fun with it. I am really working at it. I want to be good, so I am really putting my time into it, and going to my classes weekly.
Q:
In terms of acting, do you prefer comedy or drama?
Kristy: I love comedy!
Q:
What is your biggest fear?
Kristy: I am terrified of spiders. [One time] I was walking in the middle of house, late at night. I saw this big, black thing on the floor. I thought it was probably just a [piece of lint]. I reached for it, and it was a huge spider. We live out in the country and attract these crazy-looking bugs. I was so scared—I couldn't even scream.
Q:
You are an ambassador for the Starlight Children's Foundation. Tell us about that.
Kristy: It is a foundation [that] helps to better the lives of seriously ill children. I am so incredibly happy to be a part of it. I went to a gala in March. Dakota Fanning was there [as the] honored guest. She made this great speech. It was jaw dropping. Every word that she said got smarter, and more heartfelt. She really meant everything that she said. I don't think she had any notes.
