Star Spotlight
It's been quite a year for Vanessa Anne Hudgens! She started 2006 with a bang as the female lead in the Disney Channel’s mega successful High School Musical. From the debut of the TV movie, to the karaoke version and the dance version, and the DVD along with many other versions, High School Musical is here to stay! Encouraged by the success of the best-selling High School Musical soundtrack CD, Vanessa decided to strike out on her own. In September 2006, she released her debut CD, V. We recently sat down with Vanessa and asked her about her busy schedule (with no end in sight!), the scoop on High School Musical 2, and a whole lot more! Here's what she had to say:
Q & A
Q:
You've been doing the Cheetah Girls Tour to promote your debut CD, V. Have you ever been on tour before?
Vanessa: I've never been on tour before. [But] I've heard lots of stories about it.
Q:
Good stories or bad stories?
Vanessa: Both. I'm kind of nervous, but I think it's going to be something new and exciting. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Q:
Do you dance a lot while you're performing?
Vanessa: We're choreographing the show right now, and there's some dancing involved, but most of the time I let my dancers show off.
Q:
When do you guys start filming High School Musical 2?
Vanessa: In February.
Q:
What's the most memorable fan reaction you've gotten since High School Musical came out?
Vanessa: [I went with] Zac [Efron] to sign some autographs [at a charity event]. We signed a few and the usher came up and said that we had to either go back to our seats, or go into the lobby. So, crazy enough, we decided to go into the lobby and there [were] probably about 160 kids trying to get to us, trying to take pictures of us. It was crazy!
Q:
What would your definition of a good friend be?
Vanessa: Someone who would stay true to me; someone who is not jealous and who would be truly happy for you.
Q:
Have you ever read a book that really influenced you?
Vanessa: I remember when I was in seventh grade I read A Child Called It. Everyone read that book in my grade, but it made me sad.
Q:
Did you cheer on your High School Musical co-star Monique Coleman, on Dancing With the Stars?
Vanessa: Yes! Of course! I'm so happy that she got [so far in the show]. She's always enjoyed dancing and she never got to show it off in High School Musical. She had the opportunity to be on Dancing With the Stars and had so much fun with it.
Q:
What's your most guilty secret pleasure?
Vanessa: Eating chocolate and hot Cheetos.
