Checking the traps
Reported by Michael Morse

This morning I checked the trap line in the Refuge farm fields, which was set up again after the yearling was released. We captured a brother of the pack member we captured yesterday! Because his collar was also only a year old, I did not change it. After processing the wolf in the same manner as yesterday, I released him to return to his pack. The vaccinations we administer to the wolves help protect them from eight different canine diseases including parvovirus, distemper, and coronavirus. We also give the wolves a rabies vaccine.

The trap line (row of traps) Jennifer and Jonathan are checking were rained out by a storm during the night. They reset the traps and will check on them again tomorrow. The pack they are now working with is comprised of the alpha male and alpha female, two yearlings born last year, and this year's pups. Hopefully, we'll find that the pup captured yesterday has siblings (brothers and sisters). We'll see.
