List Poem
Get inspired by your surroundings. Go to a public place where a lot is going on (your cafeteria, the food court at the mall, a coffee shop). Take out your notebook and jot down a list of what’s happening around you — what people say and do, images that stick in your mind. Write down whatever comes to you. You’ll go back and fine-tune this list later.

Example
red, chipped nail polish
“Don’t call me again”
grease seeps through fry bag
ketchup glued to wall
“#2”
“Thank you, next in line”
soft, salty, hot
“Gimme sweet & sour”
“I’m not answering that”
dark roots in bleach blond hair
