Chapter 1

Jason walked down the hall to his bedroom. He had been depressed lately and felt lonely for some odd reason and he couldn't figure out why. He had started going to counseling and therapy on weekdays after school, but nothing seemed to be helping. For some reason, he felt unloved and unwanted around the house. People were always telling him what to do and what to say. He felt as if he didn't have any freedom at the house. He felt like he didn't matter, which he knew wasn't the truth.

He entered his bedroom and sat down at the foot of his bed. He picked up the remote and turned on the television. He changed the current channel to Nickelodeon. An episode of ''The Angry Beavers'' was being shown. He watched television until dinner, mostly watching shows like ''Hey Arnold,'' ''CatDOg,'' ''Corneil & Bernie,'' and many of his other favorite shows on Nickelodeon.

He walked down the stairs toward the kitchen for dinner. He wasn't really hungry, but he had to eat a thing or two before going to bed. He wasn't about to go to bed hungry. He sat down at the table and ate his meal, then, without a word, he put his plate and silverware in the sink and went up to his bedroom again. He fell asleep watching an episode of ''Rugrats.''

He woke up at nine o' clock on Saturday morning. He sat up and examined the clock, then went back to sleep, waking up at eleven. After waking up, he took a shower, then went down into the kitchen for breakfast. He had a plate of Toaster Strudel and a glass of orange juice.

R.J. entered the kitchen. He fixed his meal and sat down beside Jason.

''You okay?'' he asked him.

''What?'' Jason asked.

''You seem a little depressed. Are you feeling all right?''

''Yeah, I'm feeling fine. Why?''

''I noticed a few changes in your behavior lately and I was worried about you.''

''Don't worry. I'm talking to someone.''

''Good... You do know that if there's something wrong, you can always come talk to me. Do you not?''

''Yeah, sure...''

''Are you sure you're okay?''

''Mm-hmm...''

''Okay, then...'' R.J. sipped his coffee, looking out the window. He finished his coffee, then went upstairs to his bedroom to watch some television.

Jason stayed in the kitchen. He finished his meal, then went into the living room to watch some television. He watched the shows on One Saturday Morning, such as ''Doug,'' ''Pepper Ann,'' ''Recess,'' and ''101 Dalmatians: The Series.'' He watched television until two o' clock, then went into the kitchen for lunch. He fixed himself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and had a can of Mountain Dew. He sat down at the table and ate his meal.
