Jackson Pollock was born in Cody, Wyoming, in 1912. He was the youngest of five brothers and grew up to be the greatest artist of the twentieth century.
He started to like painting when he was growing up. His mother always wanted him to do his artwork. When Jackson was 18 he went to an art school with his older brother. In school he couldnĘt draw very well, it was like his pencil wouldnĘt listen.
One day Jackson joined the workshop of famous Mexican mural painters. They found different ways to mix things with paint. People liked what he did, so he became a famous artist.
After many years Jackson Pollock died in a car accident in 1956 when he was 44 years old! Even though he became famous he was still unhappy.
