Get ready because you are about to be blown away about all of the interesting facts about George Washington. He was born on February 11, 1732 to Augustine and Mary Ball Washington. George Washington was born and grew up in a Westmoreland County Farmhouse in Popes Creek, Virginia. In 1752, eleven more days were added to the calendar so we now celebrate his birthday on February 22nd.
Did you know George Washington became a soldier in 1751? On June 16, 1775 when the 13 American Colonies were mad at the British king for making them pay for unfair taxes, they asked George Washington to be commander-in-chief of the brand new colonial army. September 25-26, 1775-George Washington and his men crossed the Delaware River and defeated the British force at Trenton New Jersey. In December, 1777 the British Marched in Philadelphia. In fall of 1781-The Colonist and George Washington won the American Revolutionary War. April 18, 1783-The fighting in the American Revolutionary War stopped. In 1793-The war broke out between England and France; the French reminded George Washington of the help they had given the American Revolutionary War.
Many people thought George Washington would make a good President because he had already done so many great things for the United States. The people elected George Washington as president even though he didnít think he would make a good president. He became President in 1789. On July 3rd George Washington took command. On December 14, 1799 George Washington died, he was 67 years old.
