I am a young Shoshone Indian named Sacagawea. I was given the name ''Bird Women,'' which meant respect because it was believed that birds held sacred powers. In August 1812, I gave birth to a little girl named Lizette. Unfortunetly, I got a very bad fever four months after she was born and died.
