Madame C.J.Walker

By: Lesley W.
Missouri, Age 9

Madame C.J. Walker was the first African American woman millionaire. Her birth name was Sarah Breedlove. She was a mother, wife and businesswoman. She saved her money to start her own business.
Madame C.J. Walker helped many people in the community. Her dream was to make products for African American women. At that time there were very few hair products for women.
Madame C.J. Walker was a very good friend of Booker T. Washington. Together they educated many people about their culture. She was inspired to make many hair products when her own hair came out.
I chose this special person because I think she was very brave.
