Madam CJ Walker

On 1867, a self-made millionaire was born. This woman was trying to make whites and blacks equal. This womanĘs name was Madam CJ Walker.

Once Madam Walker went to a white theater. They charged her more money because she was black. First, she sued the theater. Then she built the Walker Building, a block-long business center in downtown Indianapolis. Inside, there was a new movie theater where black and white people could sit together. Madam Walker spoke to groups all over the country. She believed black people needed to start more businesses in their own neighborhoods.

Madam Walker died on May 25, 1919. I will never forget what she has done for us.
