How Animals got voices

By: Sasha A.
Maryland, Age 9

Once upon a time the world was as quiet as can be, and animals could not make sounds, but they communicated using signs. Birds could not sing, for they didn't have voices. Once a mother chicken discovered that she could squawk and signed to the other animals that she could make a sound. Soon everybody tried and figured out that they could make sounds, too! Different animals made different sounds, though. Try things new to you!
