Long ago just after the Pilgrims arrived from England fish got their gills. When the Pilgrims first came to America there was not a lot of fish in the ocean. Fisherman were only aloud to keep a certain amount of fish. Most of it was sent back to England. A lot of families didn't have a lot of food. One day a greedy fisherman went fishing. Since his family was low on food he was trying to steal some. The next day when the greedy fisherman was filleting the fish an English Police Officer saw him. The officer ran up to the man and took the stolen fish. The man had already cut 8 lines in the fish. The next day the officer threw the fish into the lake. Still to this very day fish have gills.
