WHY LEAVES CHANGE COLOR

ONE DAY IN THE TALL TREES OF THE BALLICIAN FOREST A YOUNG BIRD NAMED MONICHIOUS WAS TRYING TO COLOR THE LEAVES OF HIS TREE FOR THE COLORUST BIRD CONTEST. DURING THIS CONTEST, THE LEADER BIRDS OF THE NOLLITU BIRD SPECIES TRAVELED FROM TREE TO TREE TO AWARD THE BIRD WITH THE MOST BEAUTIFULLY COLORED REE A PRETTY RIBBON TO HANG FROM THAT TREE. THIS YEAR MONCHIOUSWAS WAS SO EXITED BECAUSE HE WAS FINALLY OLD ENOUGH TO PARTICIPATE. AS SOON AS HE HEARD THAT THE JUDGES WOULD COME TO HIS TREE IN TWO WEEKS HE STARTED TO GET BUSY. FIRST HE TRIED TO COLOR HIS TREE WITH CRAYONS, BUT THAT DIDN'T WORK. THEN HE TRIED MARKERS, PASTELS, AND PAINTS, AND SO MANY DIFFERENT THINGS. BUT NOTHING WORKED. NOW MONICHIOUS WAS STARTING TO GET WORRIED BECAUSE HE ONLY HAD THREE DAYS LEFT. HE HAD SPENT TOO MUCH TIME TRYING TO COLOR HIS LEAVES. SO HE SAT ON ONE OF HIS BRANCHES AND THOUGHT AND THOUGHT AND THOUGHT FOR ALL OF TWO DAYS, AND HE STILL DIDN'T HAVE AN IDEA! HE WENT TO BED BECAUSE HE THOUGHT HE MIGHT GET A GOOD IDEA AFTER A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP. IN THE MORNING MONICHIOUS OPENED HIS EYES AND SAW A TREE FULL OF COLORFUL, BEAUTIFUL LEAVES. HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HAD MADE HIS LEAVES SO BEAUTIFUL. LATER HE FOUND OUT THAT HIS FAMILY HAD COME IN THE NIGHT AND COLORED HIS LEAVES WITH A SPECIAL DYE THAT WAS PASSED DOWN FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION. WHEN THE JUDGE BIRDS CAME TO MONICHIOUS'S TREE THEY AWARDED HIM WITH A BEAUTIFUL PURPLE RIBBON! SO EVERY FALL, WHEN THE LEAVES CHANGE COLOR, YOU KNOW MONICHIOUS AND HIS FAMILY ARE ONCE AGAIN PAINTING THEIR LEAVES WITH THEIR SPECIAL DYE!
