A Rainbow in August

Long ago on a pleasant August day, laid a girl named Rosy with colorful petals of a flower tangled in her blonde hair. Rosy had been cursed by a witch whom she encountered in the woods when she was stealing food from a townswoman. Rosy was only nine years old without a mother or a father, which was a little confusing at her age. She knew she was special in her own way.

She laid all alone in a field of tall grass looking up at the sun. She wished for rain to wet her throat. Suddenly she felt raindrops on her cheeks. Feeling rain was one of the best feelings ever for rosy. The rain made her fall into deep sleep.

When she woke up her heart skipped a beat. Someone was near her. She called out “hello?” and there was no answer. She knew there was someone there she could feel the presence of someone. Suddenly the shadow of a woman appeared. Rosy tried to run but the curse prevented her. “Do not be afraid my child”, the woman said. I am Goldy, your mother. She was very beautiful and she looked like an angel. In her hand she had a bright light that shone brightly all through her body.

Sadly the mother had brought news to her daughter. She punished her for stealing food from the townswoman. She said to her that she shall lay her across the sky to bring peace and harmony for the rest of her life. She then picked up the petals caught in Rosy’s hair and she said to her “The colors of these petals will be what is shown of you”.
Blue is for the color of the sky. Green is for life and hope. Yellow is for the sun. Orange is for strength. Red is for blood and bravery. Violet is for power, and indigo is for thought. A bow of colors tied together as a harmony. Everyday from now when it rains and the sun is out everyone will see the half of differently, depending on what raindrops drop. The mother threw the child in the sky and a burst of color appeared. A magnificent rainbow appeared in the sky. On that August day a rainbow was born.
