The Great Depression

By A History Nut H.

In the 1920s-1930s, a paticular economic bust called the Great Depression happened. In The Great Depression, a lot of people lost their jobs, and sometimes even their homes. People did not have very much money to buy food and other goods to survive. People depended on one certain thing, the stock market.

It played a very big role in the economy then because it allowed people to get a job and make more money.

Once Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected president, though, the economy started getting better and better. Programs like TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) were created to help out the economy.

You may have heard some things on the news talking about how this is the ''Second Great Depression'' (2009), it acually is because we are now in an economic bust. Hopefully our new president, Barack Obama can help clear things out!
