HIGH FLYING

By Kate W.
New Zealand, Age 11

On the 17th of December Wilbur and Orville Wright flew an unsteady, 12 second,120 foot high flight with a perfect landing. The conditions aren't great there are winds up to 27-mph but the Wright brothers couldn't wait any longer to test their flying machine. Before Wilbur and Orville's flying machine there were several other ways of flight in 1000 B.C kites were flown all over China, Karl Wolfert from Germany made the first gasoline flight in a dirigible. The site where the brothers launched their gliders and eventually flew a powered aircraft is preserved today as Wright Brothers National Memorial.
