On January 28, 1986 at 11:38 EST, at the Kennedy Space Center, the crew onboard the Challenger: Dick Scobee, pilot Michael J. Smith, Ellison S. Onizuka, Judith A. Rensik, Ronald E. McNair, Gregory S. Garvis, and Christia McAuliffe, were blasted into space. But 73 seconds after liftoff, the rocket blew up and everyone onboard died. Saturday the 28th of January 2006 marked the anniversary of the accident.
