A grade school pupil of Liceo de Cagayan University bagged first place in the National Science Art contest in Manila last March 5.
Nero, a grade 6- Fortitude pupil, shined among 10 regional finalists aged ten to 14 years old from the various known institutions in the Philippines. He defended his Science Art output before a panel of seven judges consisting of artists and scientists who instructed the finalists to draw again and explain their artwork.
His artwork depicted the transformation of natural resources into practical and functional forms of energy. It showed both land and water energy resources and the sun which is the central source of energy.
He was coached and chaperoned by Mrs. Siasico.
The sci-art contest is annually sponsored by top known government and private agencies such as PNOC, DepEd, DOST-PCIERD, Philippine Foundation and Technology and HALLMARK.
The contest aims to develop the intellectual, scientific, athletic and social values among children. The given general theme for this year was ''BEST-Bringing Education, Science and Technology FOR NATION-BUILDING.''
