Hell Week by brian b.

By Brian B.
Florida, Age 11

Starting Tuesday, January 16, to Friday, January 19, is what head baseball coach; Coach P. calls “HELLWEEK.” He calls it this because he will have at least 50 kids coming out and competing for 30 positions on the 2001 baseball team. These kids will be going through hell for 4 hard days of non-stop running from 2:30 to 5:30 after school. Coach plans to put them through a difficult routine consisting of the 2 mile run, stadiums, sprints, and poles. The conditioning period is not mandatory but highly advised because those who do make the team will have to make up the “Hell Week” routine. Once “Hell Week” is over, he will notify the players who made the team, and then practices will start the following week from 2:30 to 5:30every day except game days until the end of the school year. The kids do have and opportunity to rest on Tuesday the 16th because the scout for the Professional Minnesota Twins baseball team will be coming and holding a clinic for twenty dollars. He will be testing your arm strength, speed, and bat power. If you are lucky enough he might just come back and see you.
