Rays Top Phils

By Clay R.

The cowbells of 40,843 electrified Tropicana Field Thursday night. It was exciting to see the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 4-2.
For Tampa, James Shields was pitching. In the regular season, Shields was pretty successful. In Game 2, Shields was solid. He pitched 5 2/3 innings, not allowing a run. Shields gave up 7 hits, struck out 4, walked 2, and threw 104 pitches.
For the Phils, they gave the ball to Brett Myers. During the regular season, Myers was sent down to AAA. When he came back to the Majors, he was better than before. In Game 2, Myers was O.K. He gave up 4 runs in 7 innings, striking out 2 and walking 3. He threw 85 pitches.
The Philadelphia bullpen was good. The Phillie's bullpen only consisted of one pitcher this game. His name was J.C. Romero. During the regular season, Romero was a pretty good pitcher. His ERA was 2.75. In Game 2, he threw 9 pitches.
The Tampa Bay bullpen was pretty good, too. Their bullpen consisted of two pitchers. The first was Dan Wheeler. During the regular season, his ERA was 3.75. In Game 2, he pitched 1 inning, striking out 2 and walking 1. He threw 26 pitches. The second Rays pitcher was David Price. He was the first overall pick in the 2007 Draft. During the regular season, Price was successful. He had an ERA of 1.93.
Game 2 of the Fall Classic was an exciting baseball game, as have all the other postseason games in 2008.
