The fight for life

By Alex S.
Grade 10, Iowa

No matter what I do

No matter where I go

I leave a path of wreckage behind me

That no one can seem to get through.

I try to be gentle

I try to be careful

But every time I show up

Everything drops to a lower level.

I'm neither a jewel nor a gem

Not a treasure nor a coal

But if I'm not that then what am I?

Just an empty body with no soul..

I walk this Earth

In a daze, in a coma

Going through just day by day

Smelling life's dead aroma.

No way out

No exit sign

Trapped in the game

Stuck in this head of mine.
