Eve Bunting
Moderated Author Chat
September 21, 1-2 pm ET
Back to Eve Bunting Page

Eve Bunting’s books are valuable in exploring a variety of topics, especially history, and difficult topics like homelessness, death, and nursing homes. So Far From the Sea tells the story of a young girl’s grandfather who was interned at the Manzanar War Relocation Center with 10,000 Japanese-Americans. Train To Somewhere tells the story of an early 20th-century orphan whose mother has gone out west to make a new life for her family. Even though Ms. Bunting’s settings and stories are sometimes foreign subjects to her readers, the eloquent text and provocative illustrations are indispensable teaching aides.
