Back to Louis Sachar Page

Louis Sachar has long been popular for his wacky Wayside School and Marvin Redpost books, as well as his on-the-mark school stories like There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom and Sixth Grade Secrets . But with the Newbery-winning Holes, Sachar created a gem of a novel that appeals to practically everyone. The good news for teachers is that this engaging adventure story is full of teachable themes like bullying, racism, and self-confidence. Furthermore, it encourages skills like the plotting intersecting storylines and recognizing chain reactions between narrative events.
