What's Special About Grade 1?
First grade is a critical time for developing fluency and learning cueing systems. When students can choose from plenty of selections with just the right amount of challenge so that they can read successfully every single day, they gain confidence as readers. That confidence boosts their ever-increasing level of skill and vice versa. First graders in Literacy Place get solid skills instruction that is explicit and systematic, with an emphasis on phonics.
