Here are some additional challenges to try. The more red dots, the harder the challenge.

     
  1. Grab several big handfuls of pennies, trying to get exactly 100. Count your pennies and write down the number you count. Keep trying until you get close to 100 or to 100 exactly.

  2. In the book Two Ways to Count to Ten, by Ruby Dee, the animals throw a spear in the air and count to ten before it lands on the ground. To speed up the counting, the clever antelope decides to count by 2's: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10. How many ways can you think of to count to 10? Write them down. Once you've done this, try a bigger number, like 24. Can you think of all the ways you can count to 24? Write them down, too.

  3. If you see 2 snakes, 3 lions, 4 elephants, 5 birds, and 6 rabbits at the zoo, how many animals are there all together? How many legs are there in all? Show how you solved the problem.
