Dr. Calvin Gidney is an Associate Professor at the Eliot-Pearson
Department of Child Development at Tufts University, where he teaches courses
in language development, the acquisition of literacy, bilingual education, and
language disorders in children. His current research projects include an investigation
into the language of children’s television, as well as research in the socio-cultural
contexts of teaching and learning. He received his Ph.D. from Georgetown University
in 1995 in the field of Linguistics.
