Assessment: Assessments in
Building Language for Literacy are based on the program's
four foundational goals: Oral Language, Phonological Awareness,
Letter Knowledge, and Print Knowledge.
The Assessment Handbooks (Phase 1 and Phase 2) provide formal assessment
activities and information designed to meet three important purposes
of assessment, to:
monitor children's progress.
plan and adapt instruction.
communicate with parents and others.
To help you meet these purposes, these handbooks provide:
information to help you decide what to assess, when
to assess, and how to assess.
a set of 11 activities covering all objectives in Phase 1
and a set of 15 activities covering all objectives in Phase
2.
a Progress Report in each for documenting the results of
the assessments.
