Read Aloud Mentoring Program

Scholastic R.E.A.L. helps young people succeed by establishing supportive and beneficial relationships between community members/volunteers and caring adults in an effort to inspire students and build literacy skills.

R.E.A.L provides mentors with the best books and easy to use, step-by step companion guides, freeing them to focus on building connections with their mentees. Each child receives a copy of the book to build their home libraries along with a take-home guide filled with fun activities that help the reader engage with the book in different ways.

What It Includes

• High Interest, Fiction and non-Fiction books - to build home libraries
• Step-by-step mentor guide for each title - freeing mentors to focus on building connections with their mentees.
• Student Take Home Guide - filled with fun activities that help the reader engage with the book in different ways.
• Implementation Guide

Our district is focused on literacy, and being able to have these great volunteers serve as mentors and give their time was a positive example of how a lifelong love of reading can be beneficial in any career our students would choose.
