Laura Robb is a Literacy Coach at Powhatan School in Boyce, Virginia where she coaches teachers in grades K to 8. She also teaches students all year in public schools in and around Winchester. Laura is a sought-after speaker for conferences and is in constant demand for professional development workshops throughout the country. Most notably, she is a veteran educator with over 43 years of teaching experience to her credit.
Laura takes a thoughtful approach in weaving classroom strategies with research-based practices into her bestselling books with Scholastic including: Teaching Reading in Middle School (2nd Edition), Teaching Nonfiction Writing: A Practical Guide, and Teaching Reading in Social Studies, Science, and Math. She is the author of other practical teaching resources published by Scholastic, including Reading Strategies That Work and 35 Must-Have Assessment and Record-Keeping Forms for Reading.
In 2006 Laura authored Scholastic’s Teaching Reading: A Complete Resource for Grades 4 and Up. Housed in a sturdy binder, this big 476-page resource contains the latest research driven information coupled with proven strategies and differentiated lessons, in addition to 25 overhead transparencies.
She is on the Editorial Board for Language Arts magazine and recently completed her three-year term on the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) Commission on Reading.
