Official Rules For THE SCHOLASTIC ONLINE SCHOOL BOOK SWEEPSTAKES ("Sweepstakes").

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY: How to enter: To enter the Sweepstakes, fill out the on-line Sweepstakes registration form (the "Form"). Submission of the completed Form will automatically enter you in the Sweepstakes. The registration instructions that are a part of the Form will request you to submit your salutation, first name, last name, name of your school, the grade you teach, e-mail address and age in order to be eligible to receive a prize. Completion of the Form on-line is the only means of entering the Sweepstakes. Partially completed Forms will not be accepted. The Sweepstakes begins on August 20, 2005 and ends on June 30, 2006. Online entries must be received by October 1, 2005 (for the October 15th selection) and March 1, 2006 (for the March 15th selection). Only one (1) entry per person per drawing  per email address is permitted. YOU MAY ONLY ENTER THIS SWEEPSTAKES ONLINE, NO OTHER METHOD OF ENTRY WILL BE ACCEPTED. No copies, facsimiles or reproductions of online entry form will be accepted. All entries become the exclusive property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. Sponsor and its agencies shall not be liable for (a) telephone, electronic, program, network, Internet, or computer delays, deletions, interruptions or other failures of any kind; (b) late, lost, damaged, failed, misdirected, incomplete, garbled, unintelligible, or delayed computer messages; or (c) any human error that may occur in the processing of any entry, nor are they responsible for any theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, whether caused by the sender or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this Sweepstakes. Proof of emailing does not constitute proof of delivery.

ELIGIBILITY: Sweepstakes is open only to legal residents of the United States who are teachers, 18 years of age or older at the time of entry and residing in the United States. Employees of Sponsor and its affiliates and their respective advertising, promotion and production agencies, their immediate families and those living in their households are not eligible to enter. Void in Puerto Rico and where prohibited by law. Subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws.

PRIZE: The Grand Prize winner will receive an assortment of Scholastic Reference books for their classroom library (approximate retail value: $300) selected according to the grade that the winner teaches, as entered by winner on the Form. The prize is non-returnable, non-transferable and cannot be sold or redeemed for cash. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. The winner is responsible for payment of all federal, state or other tax liabilities (including income taxes), if any, on any prize received. Only one prize per winner.

PRIZE DRAWING: The winners of the Sweepstakes will be determined by a random drawing conducted on or about October 15, 2005, and on or about March 15, 2006.  The October winner will be announced on or about November 10, 2006, and the March winner on or about  April 10, 2006, and the winners will be notified by e-mail on or about the same date. Winners will have fourteen (14) days from notification to accept the prize by e-mail. Sponsor and its agencies shall not be liable for unsuccessful efforts to notify a winner. If a winner does not respond to notification of winner status within fourteen (14) days from notification, or if the winner does not meet qualification criteria, Sponsor reserves the right to select an alternate winner. In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of a person submitting an on-line entry, the entry will be deemed to be submitted by the Authorized Account Holder of the e-mail address at the time of entry. "Authorized Account Holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned the e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.

ODDS OF WINNING: The odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received by the Sweepstakes deadline.

GENERAL CONDITIONS: If the administration or integrity of the Sweepstakes is compromised or corrupted at any time, the Sponsor reserves the right to modify, suspend or cancel the Sweepstakes. Sponsor and its agencies shall not be liable for any injury or damage to an entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from entering the Sweepstakes. Entrants agree that the decisions of Sponsor related to this Sweepstakes and all drawings are final. By entering the Sweepstakes, entrants agree to abide by these rules and to release and hold Sponsor and its agencies harmless from and against any and all damages and claims of any kind in connection with the Sweepstakes or resulting from acceptance, possession or use of any prize. Winners may be required to complete an affidavit of eligibility and liability/right of publicity release; failure to do so within fourteen (14) days of receipt of such affidavit and release will result in disqualification and the selection of an alternate winner. Except where prohibited, acceptance of a prize shall constitute and signify a winner's consent to the use of his/her name, address (city and state only), voice and/or photograph for promotional purposes in any media, including online, in perpetuity without further compensation. By registering to enter the Sweepstakes, entrants affirm that they have read and accepted these Official Sweepstakes Rules. Any person attempting to defraud or in any way tamper with this Sweepstakes will be ineligible for prize.

WINNERS' LIST: To obtain a list of the name(s) of the Sweepstakes winner(s), send a request, along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Scholastic Inc., The Scholastic SCHOOL BOOK SWEEPSTAKES, 557 Broadway, New York, NY 10012 (Attn: JJ). Requests must be received after July 9, 2006 and before August 30, 2006. Winners' lists will be available after the completion of the Sweepstakes.
