Q: Daryl, what was the funniest thing that happened on the set of Spy Kids 3D?

Daryl: Let's see. Probably just having all the kids around me. It's really fun because we went to the mall, we played laser tag, we had a lot of Chick-Filet. That's like the best part.

Q: Did you go to Robert Rodriguez's?

Daryl: You mean his castle! We went to Robert's castle. It has secret passages and I can't say where. Then he has an editing room and a sound room. And then a giant pool!

Q: Did you go into the secret passages?

Daryl: Yeah! It was pretty cool. I've been there since I've been in Austin for three years, four years, I know all the secret passages. Like the first time I went to his castle, he was like, "Step on the ground, maybe you'll find one!" And I was 7, so I was bouncing up on the ground jumping, and then he showed us some.

Q: Tell us how your character has grown up in this movie?

Daryl: My character has definitely gotten braver and he faces a lot of his fears now. He isn't really that scared anymore. He's just growing up like a regular kid, learning new things every day! A day wouldn't be a day if you didn't learn anything.

Q: What was it like working with Ryan Pinkston?

Daryl: Oh, Ryan Pinkston. He is hilarious! He's so funny. We both do tae kwon do and we play lots of video games. We just had a great time.

Q: Do you like to read?

Daryl: I love to read.

Q: And what's your favorite book right now?

Daryl: My favorite book right now would probably have to be The Giver by Lois Lowry. I love the story about Gabriel and how the whole story goes—the whole setting and how everything is black and white and it's in the future. I love futuristic books.

Q: Do you remember the first book that you really, really liked that you read yourself?

Daryl: Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss. I actually memorized the book. Yeah, I memorized all the words, so when I was 2 I read it a lot.

Q: Why do you like to read?

Daryl: When you read, it feels like you're in the setting. You're that character that you're reading about, and you can have all these different adventures because you become the character!

Q: Is there any book that you would love to see made into a movie and you would like to be a character in it?

Daryl: I think that I would like to see and be a character in Summerland by Michael Chabon. It's really about baseball and fantasy and all that sort of stuff.

Q: Are you a baseball fan?

Daryl: Yeah, I like baseball.

Q: Which is your favorite team?

Daryl: I like the Dodgers.

Q: Have you ever been to a game?

Daryl: I've been to several Dodgers games.

Q: What's the best part about a baseball game?

Daryl: I think it might have to be the Seventh Inning Stretch. (Sings) "Take me out to the ball game..."

Q: What grade are you going into in September?

Daryl: I'm going into sixth grade.

Q: Do you go to regular school?

Daryl: Yes.

Q: Do your classmates treat you differently because you've been in such huge movies?

Daryl: The kids at school just treat me like I'm a normal kid.

Q: Do you participate in sports and extracurricular activities?

Daryl: I love playing soccer. I play a forward. I've been playing for four years.

Q: Are you on the soccer team?

Daryl: Not this year, because it wouldn't be fair. I'm traveling a lot and I won't have time to be part of the team. I play a lot at school, though.

Q: Is there a video game that you'd love to be trapped in?

Daryl: Probably SpongeBob Squarepants. I love SpongeBob and I'd like to go into the video game and find Woodward and Mr. Crab.

Q: What's so funny about SpongeBob?

Daryl: He's a hilarious yellow sponge, what's better than that?
