Formal Assessment Ideas
Compare and Contrast Essay (Grades 68)
Students write a compare and contrast essay between the three
endangered ecosystems featured in the project. Using information
in their filled out Venn Diagrams, students should draw valuable
conclusions on why these ecosystems are endangered. See Compare
and Contrast Assessment Rubric below.
Informal Assessment Ideas
Oral Presentation (Grades 46)
Each group studying one of the ecosystems will make a presentation
of their findings to the other group. This presentation should
include facts as well as descriptions. Students should be evaluated
on their teamwork as well as on their individual contributions
to the project. See Oral Presentation Rubric below.
Project Assessment Ideas:
Classroom Discussions (Grades 48)
Assess students as they are involved with class discussions and
from their filled out KWL chart or Venn Diagrams. Base your assessment
on student participation and discussion. Has the student made
connections through the activity and discussions? Has the student
filled out thoughtful questions and searched for an answer to
those questions?
