The components for Election 2004 activities are broken down into:

The Vote Starts Here and Ballot Box: K–2
Early elementary students will explore their own personal experiences in the voting process within their schools and communities. The lesson will encourage students to understand how the voting process works and why it is important. These explorations will provide a foundation for a class activity/discussion about the current presidential election and why every vote counts.

State by State: Primaries and the Road to the Presidency: 3–5
"State By State" gives students the opportunity to learn about the key role their state plays in choosing presidential candidates and the final election in November. Through research, students will learn political concepts such as delegates, caucuses, open primaries, and closed primaries.

Countdown to November: 6–8
Middle school students will explore the process that leads to the national election in November. Through group research projects, students will learn about how an individual can become President while gaining current event research skills.
