How to Use This Game

Since Math Hunt covers many topics from the science and social studies curriculum, it provides a perfect cross-curricular extension activity for the science and social studies classroom. For example, in November you might wish to ask your students to complete the Early America Hunt as they prepare for Thanksgiving. But before you ask students to begin a Hunt, you may want to check the Math Hunt Skill Chart, which lists the math skills students will need to successfully complete each Hunt.

In each Hunt, Webster challenges your students with five grade-appropriate math questions. Within the text of each problem is a link to an outside Web site, where students will need to do research in order to solve the math problem. When students are ready, they can return to the problem by clicking on the link in the top frame of their browser window and selecting an answer. If the answer is incorrect, Webster provides helpful hints and prompts students to guess again. If the answer is correct, students move ahead to the next question. Webster will keep track of students scores from the start to finish of the game.
