Lesson 3: Reef Rhymes: Rhyming Words
Objective: Analyze phonetics for rhyming words and writing purposes.
Time Required: 30 minutes
Material Needed: Reef Rhymes (PDF) student reproducible #3
Directions:
- Use a simple nursery rhyme, [e.g., "Little Miss Muffet"] to demonstrate a rhyming poem. Write the nursery rhyme on the board and point out the rhyming words.
- Have students complete student reproducible 3, Reef Rhymes (PDF). As students read the rhyme aloud, have them emphasize the rhyming words.
Extension Activity:
Have students complete the Bonus Activity by choosing a partner and creating their own rhyming poem.
